The Keys To FAST Indexing is… Blog, Tag and Ping
If you’re unfamiliar with “blog, tag and ping”, it’s simple… Blogs are set up so that when you make a new blog entry, your blog is not only automatically updated with your new blog post, but you can set it up so that these blog posts are automatically added to “blog ping directories” and to “tag ping directories”
These directories are like little blog search engines that keep track of snippets of hundreds of thousands of blog entries from all over the world. So when you make a new blog post, these servers can be “pinged” automatically, adding your blog post snippet to the directories.
Ping means to make contact with the directory and let it know there’s new information to be had at your blog site. Most blogs can do this automatically for you, but you must tell it your list of the servers you want ping.
If you’re using WordPress Blog, you’ll find the input area for this list at: Options/Writing/Update Services
In addition to pinging the blog engines, there’s one very important additional task that will add more power to your elbow. The top blog directory is at http://technorati.com/. In fact, this directory is so popular it has a Google Page Rank of 8/10 and is the top 300 web sites according to Alexa.
To get a link from technorati is a powerful way to boost your rankings and it’s easily done simply by adding a little bit of code to the bottom of your blog posting.
If your blog is about “poodles”, your ping would read…
Keywords: <a href=http://technorati.com/tag/exoticvacations rel=”tag”>exoticvacations</a>
Doing this will create links in Technorati’s “exoticvacations” pages back to your blog and hence back to your VRE website. Certain social bookmarking services (like the popular Technorati) will scour the entire internet for blogs with tags to index. This can give you free PR8 backlinks in 10 minutes or less! You’ll also get a growing number of links from authority sites and all from doing very little additional work.
What’s great about this strategy is that search engines feast on these ping servers, going there non-stop to pull in this updated content from the various blogs listed there. The search engines like Google may not visit your blog, but by visiting the “tag and ping” directories they automatically pick up the link to your blog so that they eventually visit it and pick up the links to your VRE site so it gets indexed.
Blog, tag and ping was a very powerful method that people made a ton of money from, but just like any other great technique, people started abusing it by blogging and pinging thousands of pages that they cranked out with a piece of software within a very short period of time.
